Spellbreak (Fan UI Redesign)
Spellbreak is a Battle Royale video game created by Proletariat Inc. The twist this game has on the genre is that you are a spell-wielding battlemage. Inspired by the great art style, I attempted to redesign the game’s UI as a personal project.
Note: character models, environment art, concept art, item/spell names, item/spell illustrations, class names, and descriptive text are the creation/property of Proletariat Inc.
Splash / Start Alternatives
“Play” Lobby
This is the main hub for playing the game. You can pick your game mode type and see squad-mate’s ready status and chosen classes.
In-Match HUD
I simplified the current HUD implementation to lessen the overall amount of color noise and information overload.
Player and Teammate Vitals
Player and teammate vitals are simplified yet stylistic. Damage taken is clearly shown and healing/shield regeneration amounts are visible.
In-Combat HUD
Using your main ability (or “Rune”) changes the state of the ability bar. “Buffs” such as health and shield potions are shown at the top of the UI, while more prominent effects such as damage over time abilities inflicted upon the player are shown large in red.
Looting
Items you find in a match can be picked up to enhance your battlemage’s abilities.
Loot Rarity
Loot found throughout the game can range from common to legendary in rarity. These distinctions are important and need to be noticeable at a glance.
Inventory/Player Overview
Opening the inventory/player overview at any time in a match allows the player to view more details on various aspects of the game.
Class Picker
Players are able to select from various gauntlet element types or “classes”. Each class has signature spells and sorceries along with passives that are leveled up within a match.
Talent Editor
When picking your class you are also able to edit talents. These talents are chosen via a points system and can be mixed and matched to create specific builds. Some talents are unlocked via class levels.
Mastery
The mastery section allows players to check out their time played, top played classes, and view stat breakdowns by each class. Players can also explore upcoming rewards from mage levels or class levels.
